Nyung Nä Retreat

at Chenrezig Institute, QLD Australia led by Ailsa Cameron

Sat May 19, 7pm – Sun 3 June 7am

Nyung Nä is an extremely powerful practice for developing compassion based on the practices of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion. Bring to light positive states of mind and discover for yourself the nature of serious retreat during this annual Nyung Nä Retreat (literally “abiding in less”).
Benefit from abiding daily in the eight Mahayana precepts, meditating on the mind of enlightenment, reciting prayers and mantras, making offerings, and performing prostrations. Increase your well-being on the second day by adding two additional vows; keeping silence and fasting (no eating or drinking).

You are welcome to participate in any single (2-day) retreat or complete all eight.
No specific empowerments are needed. Doing just one Nyung Nä is extremely powerful for healing illnesses, purifying negative karma, and opening the heart to compassion.

Big Love Retreat

at Chenrezig Institute, QLD Australia led by Lozang Jhampa

OM MANI PADME HUM is the mantra of Chenrezig, the Buddha of compassion.
Easy to recite, easy to remember, yet its meaning is extremely profound and the benefits of reciting it are immeasurable.

Join us for the full 5 days of the retreat, or come for a day, or even a single session. Everyone welcome!
You don’t need any previous retreat experience to participate in this life-changing opportunity.

Recitation and meditation on this mantra purifies our negative karma, develops our compassionate heart. Ultimately, it creates the causes for us to actualise the entire path to enlightenment.
Retreat sessions are dedicated to the long life of the Dalai Lama, the liberation of the Tibetan people, the end of wars, and to the peace, happiness and freedom of all sentient beings.

Dwelling deep within our own hearts, and within the hearts of all beings without exception, is an inexhaustible source of love and wisdom.- Lama Yeshe

Sponsorships are available (covering accommodation and facility fees) for anyone attending the full retreat. Call or email Reception for more details.

Insight Series: Shamatha in Early Buddhism

with Antonio Satta

From the Chenrezig Institute

Fri 13 April 7pm – Sun 15 April 5pm

There are two different paths or approaches to generating the correct view; generating the view for the sake of meditation is where one first generates the view (conceptually) and then meditates, meditation for the sake of generating the view is where one seeks to generate the view through meditation. In Insight Meditation one adopts the latter approach.

In order to generate the view that is based on meditation one first trains in the practice of shamata and then in the practice of vipassana. With Shamatha we calm our confusion; with vipassana we understand why we are confused.
New or experienced students may come along to the first or second retreat weekends. The mahamudra (final) weekend in July requires one to have done a one, or both, of the previous two day weekends with Venerable Antonio. Come for one or all three.

Friday 25th November 7pm – Sunday 27th November 4:30pm

Studying these teachings is a bit like doing construction work upon our mind. This... is not always easy, but some of its aspects make it less difficult... we don’t need money, labourers, technicians or technology. Everything we require is already there, within our mind. Therefore, with the right kind of effort and awareness, mental development can be easy. His Holiness the Dalai Lama

A weekend of focused meditation, supported by teachings and discussion. This is an excellent way to learn how to meditate on the stages of the path, and to find balance in one’s own daily study, reflection and meditation.

The teachings of the Buddha, and our own personal experience, are all contained in The Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Tibetan: lam-rim). In this series of short retreats we will explore this amazing experiential process in depth, slowly working through the sequence of meditations in the lam-rim.

All are welcome; however, some previous knowledge of The Stages of the Path will enhance participants’ experience.
