Year-end Purification at Chenrezig Institute QLD - December 2012

Vajrasattva Retreat – December 26 - 31

During this retreat we can purify our negative karma by engaging in the practices of Vajrasattva, the Buddha of Purification. The objective in purifying negativities is ultimately to suffer less and therefore to become happier and happier – our good qualities increase, and mental and physical suffering diminishes. Learn to make this practice the quickest, most effective way to transform your mind.

Lama Zopa Rinpoche explains: The Vajrasattva purification practice, which is more powerful than negative karma, can prevent you from experiencing the problems that negative karma would otherwise bring you. If you don't want relationship problems, business failure, illnesses such as cancer or aids, notoriety, or the criticism of others, the practice of Vajrasattva is extremely important.

This retreat is suitable for all faiths: for beginners and long-time practitioners alike. No special prerequisites, though a basic understanding of karma is helpful. The retreat may be confronting but the setting is peaceful.

Chenrezig Institute is a centre for Buddhist study, meditation, retreat, and practice nestled in the foothills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland in Queensland, Australia. Established in 1974 Chenrezig Institute was one of the first Tibetan Buddhist centre in the Western World and remains one of the largest.

Today, the Institute is home to a Tibetan Lama, a large community of Sangha (monks and nuns), students, residents, volunteers, retreatants, and guests.

Apart from the formal study programmes, Chenrezig Institute is a peaceful, calm and relaxing place to spend a few hours, days or weeks. Stroll along the bush paths, wander in the formal garden, sip espresso in the café,have a vegetarian meal, drop in for a meditation class or teaching, or just sit and listen to life.

Our mission is to transmit the Tibetan Buddhist tradition as the path to ultimate happiness and freedom from suffering. We provide integrated education through which people’s minds and hearts can be transformed into their highest potential for the benefit of others, inspired by an attitude of universal responsibility. We are committed to creating harmonious environments and helping all beings develop their full potential of infinite wisdom and compassion.
